Welcome to UMDS
UMDS is a society that brings together student actors, writers, directors, producers and creatives to make some of Manchester’s most vibrant theatre. We offer multiple performance opportunities, producing three seasons of theatre throughout the academic year, as well as scratch nights, workshops and many other creative opportunities. Alongside these, we host regular socials where you can meet like-minded individuals.

2025/26 Aims
This year, we want our society to be a welcoming space for anyone interested in getting creative - whether you've been doing it for years or are just trying something new. We're focused on keeping things open, inclusive, and fun. That means more chances to get involved, more ways to collaborate, and a real mix of people and ideas. Diversity and fresh perspectives are what keeps things exciting, and we want everyone to feel like they belong here. Whether you're here to make, perform, explore, or just enjoy the atmosphere - we can't wait to meet you!
